Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska

Just like The Father’s Tale, in my first blog book review, Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska could be used to prop open a door, but once again I highly recommend it. Here are some quotes for a sneak peak.

images“Let that which He has ordained happen to me”

“True greatness of the soul is in loving God and in humility”

“Silence is a sword in the spiritual struggle”

“I understood that God’s grace must be received just as God sends it, in the way He wants, and one must receive it in that form under which God sends it to us”

“I see that love and sorrow go hand in hand”

“Patience, prayer and silence –these are what give strength to the soul”

“And I sail along bravely and merrily, as becomes a pure heart”

“I have come to know that in order for God to act in a soul, it must give up acting on its own”

My favorite, my Patron Saint Faustina. Her diary stays with me always to read over & over again. The part I have marked and read a lot is the Conversation of the Merciful God with a Sinful Soul, a Despairing Soul, with a Suffering Soul, a Soul Striving after Perfection, & a Perfect Soul. All of which can be found in Notebook V. Now that I work Security Guard duty, I can read this at work & meditate on what our LORD is saying to His Secretary. What an awesome title she had while here on earth. But it also came at a high price of suffering. First time I saw the movie on EWTN about her life, this was before I entered the Church in 2008, I just knew I wanted her for my Patron Saint. It’s like I understood her & I felt she understood me. We both have suffered, her much more though. And we both write. In all her suffering, she tried hard not to show it & just wanted to be in God’s presence a lot. She brings a true reality to our journey with the LORD. Not anything like the reality shows on tv. The real reality of walking with Jesus & Mary. Not to be grouchy or let your suffering show. Be silent and pray. That takes some work. But that is what is truly real.

Love you guys, Lisa & Baby
