Christmas is coming quickly!  We are already well into the 2nd Week of Advent!  Wondering what to get for the person who has everything?  Looking for a gift like…nun-other? 🙂

We have a few ideas:

gifts41.)  GIFT REGISTRATION for the Desert NUN RUN:

Got an athlete in the family?  A runner?  A walker?  Register them for the Nun Run to take place on March 8th, 2014!  On race day, all participants will receive a free race shirt!  All those who register friends or loved ones from now until Christmas will be emailed a complimentary gift certificate that can be printed and given to your loved one on Christmas.  *please note:  we are not  having ‘shadow participants’ this year, so all registrants will need to be onsite runners/walkers.

2.)  DESERT DAY OF PRAYER at Our Lady of Solitude Chapel:

The greatest gift we can give some people is the gift of our time – to spend the day together!   gifts7Why not make it extra special and give them a day with you and the LORD!  How, you may ask?  Surprise your friend or loved one by making a reservation for a Desert Day of Prayer (aka a Retreat Day) with them here at Our Lady of Solitude Monastery.  By making a reservation, you can reserve the Guadalupe Room for your use from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.  All those who schedule a Desert Day from now until Christmas will be emailed a complimentary gift certificate that can be printed and given to your friend or loved one on Christmas! This is not only for the spiritual but for the ‘economical’ too, as there is no charge for Desert Days, though donations are always appreciated.

Get away from the hustle-n-bustle of life, and spend a day in silence and prayer together at our desert oasis.  Making the trek out to Tonopah is like making a mini-pilgrimage – leaving behind the noise and the stress and the busyness that permeates your daily life, you can soak in the silence, the solitude and the peace of the Lord!

(This idea was given to us from a friend who is bringing his mom here as her Christmas gift.  They will spend the day together, beginning with Mass, followed by some private prayer.  They are bringing a picnic lunch and making a day of it!  Doesn’t that sound awesome?!?!?!)
