“O desert of Christ, burgeoning with flowers! O solitude, in which those stones are produced of which the Apocalypse the city of the great king is constructed! O wilderness that rejoiced in intimacy with God!”
– St. Jerome
On September 9th, our community was blessed to add Sr. Faustina Marie of the Father’s Merciful Love to our number! Sister is in the process of transferring to our community from Monastere de Notre Dame des Anges in Troyes France. Sister is a native Iowan and joined the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration in 1994 in Birmingham, AL. Sr. Faustina Marie was in initial formation with Mother Marie Andre, Sr. Marie St. Paul, and Sr. Mary Fidelis. In 2005 she went to Troyes to help reopen our Protomonastery. We rejoice to welcome her into our community here in the heart of the desert. Kindly keep her in your prayers during this time of transition.
We are giving thanks that the intense summer heat is behind us and we are stepping into Autumn with much joy! For us, the celebration of the Solemnity of St. Francis always marks the official beginning of Fall! Enjoy some photos from the Transitus of St. Francis (October 3rd) here at the Monastery.
And, finally, we hope you enjoy scrolling through the photos below. They were taken throughout the last few months…but somehow never made it to the blog! Sr. John-Mark Maria, our photographer extraordinaire, captured the beauty of the desert with her contemplative eye.
Welcome Sister Faustina. What a Very special community Our Lord has gathered to His desert.
Please pray for my 29 year old granddaughter Marguarite (mother of two) who is experiencing severe heart issues!
Cant wait to visit again. I pray for you like you pray for me. So proud of the progress with the monistary.

Welcome Sr. Faustina to the desert! Prayers for your transition!
Welcome Back, Sister Faustina. I remember when you were with all the others in Irondale,AL.
Love the pictures by Sister John Mark. I pray for all of you daily.
Bonjour Soeur Faustine , toute la famille pense bien à toi , et on prie pour toi et tes Soeurs
Welcome back Sr Faustina. How does it feel to be back in your original habit? And, when you originally went to France, I wrote and asked how you adapted to your new environment. Would you please write a blog or add to the newsletter how it was in France and what it is like to return to the USA? Again, welcome back and God bless you and all the Sisters.
Welcome home, Sr Faustina Marie. I have been a ardent fan of EWTN since 1994. I remember Angel, Meaghan, Reagan and Christina all in formation together. It is so wonderful to have you back in the USA! However, nothing wrong with being in France. I hope Mother Andre will let you tell us in a newsletter about your experience in France – i.e. what you missed most, food, language, etc. It would be really great to hear about your experiences with the sisters. Also, one more question -why don’t you all wear the same headpiece? You all have the same habit , but the wearing of the veil is different.
Why is that? I have also noticed the sisters in Ohio wear a different head piece. Welcome back! I am sure your family is glad to have you back in the States. Please pray for my family. God love you and all the sisters.
